The Role
You will act as a technical specialist, working closely with Third Party Administrators, Trustees and internal oversight teams to review complex pension calculations, investigate discrepancies and provide expert guidance on DB pension benefits and legislation.
The role requires strong analytical capability, excellent attention to detail and a deep understanding of manual pension calculations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate complex manual defined benefit pension calculations completed by third-party administrators
- Identify and challenge calculation errors, providing technical feedback and guidance where required
- Work through pension calculations from first principles to verify outputs and benefit entitlements
- Support oversight of Trustee administrator funding requests and benefit calculations
- Provide technical expertise on DB pension benefits, scheme rules and relevant legislation
- Respond to complex pension administration and technical queries
- Work closely with internal Pension Services and Oversight teams to ensure high service standards are maintained
About You
- Strong defined benefit pensions administration experience
- Proven experience completing and reviewing complex manual pension calculations
- Deep understanding of DB pension benefits and scheme rules
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capability
- Good Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate and analyse data effectively
- Comfortable challenging calculations and explaining technical outcomes to stakeholders
