Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation and processing of regular payroll runs.
- Coordinate HR activity and keep trackers and actions up to date.
- Handle day-to-day HR or payroll queries and manage complex cases as needed.
- Ensure employee records and documentation are accurate and compliant with GDPR.
- Work with colleagues and stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
- Maintain HR systems and assist in day-to-day team activities.

We’re looking for a Senior Payroll Officer (HR Operations) for our public sector client based in London on an initial 6-month contract paying £200 to £300 per day Inside IR35. This role offers hybrid working, with an expectation to attend the office up to 3 days per week. You will need to either hold active Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible to obtain it. This position sits within a busy HR Operations team that supports the full employee lifecycle.
Alongside payroll duties, you will help keep HR processes running smoothly, ensuring actions are followed up, records are accurate, and queries are resolved promptly. You will also play a part in coordinating day-to-day activity within the team and maintaining HR systems.
The successful Senior Payroll Officer will possess proven skills working with the following:
- Practical experience using the MHR iTrent system
