Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on advanced assessment, treatment, and management of children with diabetes in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Act as a clinical lead for paediatric diabetes services and transition services.
- Develop comprehensive care plans for children and young people (CYP).
- Provide education, advice, and support to CYP, parents, ward staff, and schools.
- Manage a designated clinic and independently handle a case load of CYPs.
- Lead quality improvement projects involving audits.
- Support and teach ward staff, families, and other professionals.
- Manage junior staff and demonstrate strong leadership and management skills.

As a Senior Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse , you will play a pivotal role within our specialist MDT, helping to drive service innovation, improve patient outcomes, and support children, young people, and their families throughout their diabetes journey. We are looking for someone who is proactive, compassionate, and excited by the opportunity to help shape and develop accessible, high-quality services.

To take the leading role in the advanced assessment, treatment, and management of children with diabetes within inpatients and outpatients.
To lead for diabetes transition services.
To act as a clinical lead for the Paediatric diabetes services.
To review and educate all children and young people.
To develop comprehensive care plans for CYP.
To be highly skilled in the advanced clinical assessment and advanced management of CYP with diabetes.
To provide advanced information, education, advice, and support to the CYP, parents, ward staff and schools.
Working in a demanding environment, the successful applicant will be required to:
- Lead on a designated clinic and independently manage a case load of CYPs.
- Use excellent communication skills.
- Have advanced and extensive knowledge and clinical skills to manage CYP with diabetes, aetiology, and treatment.
- Have experience of working autonomously and as a member of the nursing team/MDT
- Be confident and competent in their role and have a willingness to develop their skills.
- Have excellent organisational, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
- Have the experience and expertise of supporting and teaching ward staff, families, and other professionals such as schools.
- Demonstrate resilience with a fast paced and unpredictable workload.
- Lead in quality improvement projects involving audits.
- Manage junior staff.
- Hold strong leadership and management skills.
