Summary: The role of Senior Network Engineer involves supporting a large and complex network environment for a secure government body, requiring extensive knowledge of Juniper technologies and network configurations. The position is a 12-month contract based onsite near Reading, with a pay rate of approximately £500 to £540 per day and classified as inside IR35. Candidates should possess strong technical investigation skills and experience in IT service management. The role demands effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in a large and complex network environment at a Senior network engineering level.
  • Perform technical investigations and problem-solving.
  • Configure and manage Juniper technologies including EX, QFX, SRX, and vSRX Firewalls.
  • Implement IT service management and delivery based on ITIL standards.
  • Work with Juniper Virtual Chassis and Clustering technology.
  • Configure and troubleshoot EVPN/VXLAN on Juniper equipment.
  • Set up GRE tunnels and Routing Instances/VRFs.
  • Manage PKI/certificate generation and renewal.
  • Demonstrate strong routing skills (OSPF, BGP) and Firewall configuration.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Document processes and configurations clearly.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools: SolarWinds, Splunk.
  • Core Network Services: IPAM, DHCP, DNS.
  • Ability to document processes and configurations clearly.

Inspire People are seeing a Senior Network Engineer on behalf of secure, Government body, with Juniper knowledge (EX, QFX, switch configuration, SRX, vSRX Firewall and policy config, Junos Space, Security Director, Apstra) and experience of support in a large and complex network environment at a Senior network engineering level. 12 month contract onsite (near Reading) and Inside IR35 - circa £500 to £540 per day (12 months).

Essential:

* Experience of support in a large and complex network environment at a Senior network engineering level
* Good technical investigation and problem-solving skills.
* Juniper Technologies: EX, QFX, switch configuration, SRX, vSRX Firewall and policy config, Junos Space, Security Director, Apstra.
* Experience in IT service management and delivery based on ITIL service management standards.
* Experience working with Juniper Virtual Chassis and Clustering technology
* Experience with configuring/troubleshooting EVPN/VXLAN on Juniper equipment.
* Experience of configuring GRE tunnels and Routing Instances/VRFs.
* Experience of PKI/certificate generation and renewal.
* Networking: strong routing skills (OSPF, BGP), Firewall configuration, WAN/LAN design, device clustering, high availability.
* Juniper Technologies: EX, QFX, switch configuration, SRX, vSRX Firewall and policy config, Junos Space, Security Director, Apstra.
* Security Platforms: FortiGate, F5 BIG-IP (Load Balancing/AWAF), Pulse Secure/Ivanti, high-grade encryption.
* Identity & Access Management: Cisco ISE (full life cycle), Windows NPS (RADIUS/802.1X).
* Monitoring & Observability: SolarWinds, Splunk.
* Core Network Services: IPAM, DHCP, DNS.

Desirable:
* Juniper and Cisco certification but experience is more important.
* Ideally experience of working in a secure environment.
* Data Centre experience advantageous.
* Extreme Switch knowledge desirable.
* Experience/certification with at least one of the major network vendors. - JNCIS-ENT, JNCIS-DC (preferably JNCIP-DC), JNCIA-SEC
