Senior Network Engineer

Summary: The Senior Network Engineer role is a contract position based in Dublin, requiring expertise in designing and managing global DWDM networks. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing operational processes, evaluating products, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This position demands extensive experience in optical networking and IP fundamentals, along with strong troubleshooting skills. The contract duration is set for 12 months with a daily rate compensation structure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and scale global DWDM networks
• Develop processes for operating and building the optical network
• Evaluate new products and manage commercial tenders
• Ensure optical network compliance with standards
• Review and implement changes on optical systems
• Drive projects to improve DWDM network quality and reliability

Key Skills:

• 7+ years of industry experience
• Proficiency in optical planning, modeling tools, and large DWDM network rollouts
• Expertise in IP networking fundamentals and protocols
• In-depth knowledge of major DWDM platforms (Ciena, Infinera, Cisco)
• Experience with major router platforms (Cisco, Juniper) including supervisory and line cards
• Knowledge of internet routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
• Excellent network analysis and troubleshooting skills
• Significant experience with DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET, VLANs/STP, IPv4/IPv6, TCP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC, VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP
