Summary: The role of Network Security Engineer involves supporting a large-scale enterprise environment with a focus on designing and implementing segmentation strategies and optimizing firewall policies. This hands-on position requires strong expertise in network security and the ability to analyze and translate network traffic into business applications. The ideal candidate will work independently and solve complex problems while meeting tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust segmentation strategies.
- Optimize firewall policies and build least-privilege firewall rules.
- Conduct multi-firewall traffic flow analysis and identify access paths.
- Utilize advanced Splunk querying for traffic analysis and segmentation use cases.
- Translate network traffic into business applications/services.
- Work independently to solve complex problems and meet tight deadlines.
Key Skills:
- Strong expertise in network segmentation and enterprise firewall environments.
- Advanced Splunk querying skills.
- Proven ability to analyze network traffic.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise IP networking & security.
- Familiarity with Palo Alto (Panorama).
- Experience with Firemon and NGFW features.
- Scripting/automation skills (e.g., Python) are a plus.
- Exposure to F5, AWS/Azure networking, and Cisco ACI.

Change Digital are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer on behalf of our Edinburgh based client, to support a large-scale enterprise environment. This is a hands-on role focused on designing and implementing robust segmentation strategies and optimising firewall policies.
Skills required:
Key Requirements:
- Strong expertise in network segmentation, control-point enforcement, and enterprise firewall environments
- Advanced Splunk querying for traffic analysis and segmentation use cases
- Proven ability to translate network traffic into business applications/services
- Experience building least-privilege firewall rules and analysing existing policies
- Skilled in multi-firewall traffic flow analysis and identifying access paths
- Deep knowledge of enterprise IP networking & security
- Familiarity with Palo Alto (Panorama)
- Able to work independently, solve complex problems, and meet tight deadlines
Desirable:
- Experience with Firemon, NGFW features (App-ID, user-based rules)
- Firewall rule optimisation, clean-up, and consolidation
Nice to Have:
- Exposure to F5, AWS/Azure networking, Cisco ACI
- M&A / divestment segmentation experience
- Scripting/automation (e.g. Python)
