Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support a major programme focused on design and asset care within a safety-critical environment. This role involves delivering mechanical engineering solutions that are compliant and fit for purpose throughout the asset lifecycle. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure high-quality technical outputs and maintain engineering standards. Key responsibilities include producing engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting safety case activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver mechanical engineering activities across design and asset support scopes
  • Produce and check engineering deliverables, including general arrangement drawings and detailed design packages
  • Ensure compliance with relevant nuclear industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Support safety case activities including HAZOP, HAZID, and design substantiation
  • Contribute to the design and assessment of mechanical handling systems, process plant and equipment, piping, and pressure systems
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including EC&I, process, and safety functions
  • Interface with stakeholders across engineering, project delivery, and operations
  • Support planning and delivery of engineering work packages
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers where required

Key Skills:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership (highly desirable)
  • Experience within a highly regulated industry (nuclear strongly preferred)
  • Strong awareness of nuclear engineering codes, standards, and compliance frameworks
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical design within safety-critical environments
  • Experience producing high-quality engineering documentation
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems and equipment design, piping, pressure systems, and structural interfaces
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team

Senior Mechanical Engineer Overview We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a major programme delivering design and asset care within a complex, safety-critical environment. This role sits within a multi-disciplinary design function responsible for both new project delivery and ongoing operational asset support , ensuring mechanical engineering solutions are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose across the asset lifecycle. You will play a key role in the delivery of mechanical design work , supporting technical outputs, maintaining engineering quality, and collaborating closely with internal teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
