Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer role focuses on leading mechanical design for clean water and wastewater projects within a newly established London business unit. The position involves mentoring junior engineers and coordinating multidisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role offers the opportunity to influence team processes and contribute to the growth of the consultancy in the UK water market. The contract is outside IR35, providing flexibility in working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver mechanical design solutions for water and wastewater projects
  • Produce calculations, reports, specifications and design drawings
  • Lead and review work from junior engineers and CAD technicians
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers and subcontract design teams
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety requirements and client expectations
  • Support project planning, estimating and technical decision-making

Key Skills:

  • 8+ years' mechanical design experience within the UK water sector
  • Strong hydraulic design expertise
  • Experience with clean water and/or wastewater projects
  • Knowledge of electrical and control systems is advantageous
  • Degree or HND qualified
  • Working towards or already achieved Chartership

Salary (Rate): £50.00/hr

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Water Sector

St Albans: Hybrid (3 Days Office)

Contract: £45–£50/hr (Outside IR35)

Advance TRS are supporting a rapidly growing consultancy in their search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Joining a newly formed London business unit, you'll have the unique opportunity to help build a team from the ground up, influence how projects are delivered, and play a significant role in the future growth of the business within the UK water market. You'll lead the mechanical design of clean water and wastewater projects, producing high-quality engineering solutions while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
