Summary: The Senior Marketing and Communications Manager at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy for the Money Guiders program during a critical growth phase. This hybrid role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on execution to enhance financial wellbeing across the UK. The position is integral to the Customer Engagement team and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective communication and marketing efforts. The role is offered on an 18-month fixed-term contract with a salary of £70,000 per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and be responsible for an overarching, integrated communications strategy for Money Guiders through 2025/26 and beyond.
  • Develop and execute plans to support the delivery of the strategy, utilising an appropriate marketing and communications mix across paid, no and low-cost channels.
  • Work with colleagues to identify and maximise opportunities to use existing MaPS’ owned channels such as Social – LinkedIn, X and Facebook, website, SEO optimisation, PR, events and partnerships.
  • Work closely with MaPS’ brand team to ensure ongoing alignment with corporate brand architecture, expression and application.
  • Work with internal design teams and/or external agencies to develop marketing materials, campaign assets and toolkits both print and digital, ensuring brand guidelines are adhered to.
  • Lead work on audience segmentation, to ensure activities are accurately targeted.
  • Be responsible for external supplier procurement such as agencies and marketing services.
  • Monitor effectiveness of communications and marketing activity, assessing impact and identify optimisations in the spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor the market to identify trends and opportunities for innovation and enhanced delivery of Money Guiders engagement activities.
  • Establish regular reporting channels to Money Guiders programme and governance structures.
  • Undertake any other duties to support communications and marketing activities, including outside of the Money Guiders programme.

Key Skills:

  • 7+ years in a senior role managing a marketing related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and executing marketing, brand and/or communications strategy and plans.
  • Demonstrable success in engaging customers/stakeholders.
  • Skilled in planning and executing ‘route to market’ campaigns and activities.
  • Experience in developing and managing consumer-facing / B2B2C / B2B brands or programmes.
  • Highly developed project management skills and experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in market research and insight, KPI evaluation techniques.
  • A knowledge of website and digital journey development.
  • Experience procuring agencies and marketing/communications services.

Senior Marketing and Communications Manager c. £70,000 per annum Bedford Based Hybrid Working 18 month FTC Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as Senior Marketing and Communications Manager – a new senior role to support the scale up of Money Guiders, a flagship programme at MaPS, which helps people who talk to their customers about money to do that well.Money Guiders is an exciting period of growth, and we are looking for talent to join us to ensure the successful transition to its future state. In this role, you will be required to take full leadership, ownership and accountability for the development and delivery of a comprehensive, integrated communications strategy and plan for Money Guiders throughout this transition year and onward into the ‘scale and sustain’ phase. While this is a leadership role, you will be expected to deliver directly as well as set direction. You’ll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to helping people across the UK improve their financial wellbeing.

Role Overview This role will be embedded into MaPS’ Customer Engagement team, where it will benefit from working alongside marketing, brand and communications colleagues. This role will also be part of the Money Guiders team and will be required to report into the programme’s governance requirements. To succeed in this position, you must demonstrate strong strategic, analysis, creative, and communication skills. Experience working as a Marketing, Brand, Communications or Campaigns manager/leader, or in a similar position is an advantage.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and be responsible for an overarching, integrated communications strategy, for Money Guiders through 2025/26 and beyond.
  • Develop and execute plans to support the delivery of the strategy, utilising an appropriate marketing and communications mix across paid, no and low-cost channels.
  • Work with colleagues to identify and maximise opportunities to use existing MaPS’ owned channels such as Social – LinkedIn, X and Facebook, website, SEO optimisation, PR, events and partnerships.
  • Work closely with MaPS’ brand team to ensure ongoing alignment with corporate brand architecture, expression and application.
  • Work with internal design teams and/or external agencies to develop marketing materials, campaign assets and toolkits both print and digital, ensuring brand guidelines are adhered to.
  • Lead work on audience segmentation, to ensure activities are accurately targeted. Work with internal teams to use existing data, and commission additional insights from external agencies as required.
  • Be responsible for external supplier procurement such as agencies and marketing services. And lead on writing any required PASS paper submissions to Cabinet Office for approval of any paid campaign spend and the writing of any other required business cases.
  • Monitor effectiveness of communications and marketing activity, assessing impact and identify optimisations in the spirit of continuous improvement. Oversee continuous campaign evaluation with a focus on RoI, including: awareness, engagement, conversion and brand recognition.
  • Monitor the market to identify trends and opportunities for innovation and enhanced delivery of Money Guiders engagement activities.
  • Establish regular reporting channels to Money Guiders programme and governance structures, as well as to the Corporate Director for Customer Engagement.
  • Undertake any other duties to support communications and marketing activities, including outside of the Money Guiders programme, as required by the Director of Customer Engagement.

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

Essential

  • 7+ years in a senior role managing a marketing related discipline - ideally in marketing, digital engagement, communications, brand, campaigns or a similar, in a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and executing marketing, brand and/or communications strategy and plans
  • Demonstrable success in engaging customers / stakeholders, using communications to drive up customer demand and .
  • Skilled in planning and executing ‘route to market’ campaigns and activities, coordinating others, anticipating and managing risks, and advising leadership on progress and impact along the way
  • Designing and delivering campaigns, communications and/or marketing activity utilising paid, no and low-cost channels and working with multiple channel owners and external partners to amplify campaigns and activity
  • Experience in developing and managing consumer-facing / B2B2C / B2B brands or programmes.
  • Highly developed project management skills and experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in market research and insight, KPI evaluation techniques and the ability to use data to identify opportunities and improve performance
  • A knowledge of website and digital journey development
  • Experience procuring agencies and marketing/communications services, and managing relationships with external suppliers
  • A strong interest in working at MaPS and a wider interest in and/or knowledge of financial wellbeing.
