Summary: The NPI Lead Manufacturing Engineer role in Peterborough involves overseeing manufacturing readiness for new engine programs, focusing on upgrading production lines for a new engine platform. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Manufacturing Engineering activities across all NPI gateways (G1–G6).
  • Manage tooling, fixtures, and equipment from specification through to commissioning.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation: PFMEA, control plans, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Support prototype, pilot, and validation builds, resolving issues between gateways.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering on Design for Manufacturing and change management.
  • Deliver PPAP elements, capability studies, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Present ME status, risks, and mitigation plans at programme reviews and gateway approvals.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years in NPI, launch engineering, or programme delivery (automotive, aerospace, or other assembly/automation environments).
  • Strong knowledge of engine assembly, machining, or precision manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience delivering gated NPI programmes.
  • PFMEA, control plans, statistical validation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with PLM systems (Team Centre preferred), 2D AutoCAD, and CAD modelling (Creo or Fusion 360).
  • Strong communication and project management skills.

We’re looking for an experienced NPI Lead Manufacturing Engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering manufacturing readiness for new and updated engine programmes. You’ll be at the heart of upgrading existing production lines to support a brand-new engine platform, ensuring seamless transition from design to full-scale production.
