Summary: The Senior Management Accountant role in Central Manchester involves ownership of management accounting, reporting, and financial analysis within a leading Financial Services organization. This high-impact position requires collaboration with the Financial Services Director and commercial team to drive performance insights and lead audit processes. The role demands strong technical skills and experience in financial services, with a focus on delivering accurate financial reporting and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver monthly management accounts for the Financial Services division
- Produce high-quality financial analysis, including variance analysis vs budget and prior periods
- Lead and review weekly KPI reporting, presenting insights to senior stakeholders
- Translate weekly performance into monthly reporting packs and business insights
- Act as a business partner to the FS commercial team, supporting decision-making
- Lead the Financial Services audit process (interim & year-end)
- Prepare and review technical accounting papers (IFRS 9)
- Maintain strong balance sheet control and ensure accuracy across reporting
- Manage and support a Management Accountant, providing oversight and development
- Drive improvements across financial processes, controls, and reporting systems
- Present financial performance to senior stakeholders with clear, commercial narrative
Key Skills:
- Qualified accountant (ACA preferred)
- Background in Financial Services (essential)
- Experience working with or leading external audits (essential)
- Strong knowledge of IFRS 9 / ECL methodologies
- Proven experience in management accounting, reporting, and analysis
- Experience managing or mentoring junior finance staff
- Strong Excel and analytical capability
- Experience with Oracle / journal processing systems
- Exposure to Power BI (reporting & dashboards)
- SQL experience beneficial
- Commercially minded with strong attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to present to senior stakeholders
- Data-driven and analytical
