Summary: The Senior Legal Officer will support the grant giving and contracting function of an impact-driven organization focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families. This role involves managing contracts, ensuring compliance, and providing legal advice within a collaborative environment. The position is full-time with a hybrid working arrangement and offers a fixed-term contract of 12 months. The successful candidate will have a law degree and relevant experience in contract law within the not-for-profit sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and consolidate existing grant and service agreements templates, ensuring compliance.
- Prepare internal guidance on using the contract templates.
- Develop and maintain a register of agreed variations to standard terms and conditions.
- Advise on due diligence processes and legal considerations for collaborations with various partners.
- Support project teams in establishing agreements for new grants and services.
- Assist project teams with existing agreements.
- Provide organization-wide training on standard terms and conditions and managing contracts.
- Develop robust and future-proof contracting processes to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
- Act as the main point of contact with external legal advice providers.
- Work with the finance team to ensure disbursement of funding is compliant with agreements and the law.
Key Skills:
- Law degree or similar qualification.
- Experience in contract law and contracting in a not-for-profit or grant-making environment.
- Strong understanding of compliance and legal considerations in collaborations.
- Ability to develop and maintain legal documentation and guidance.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders.
