Summary: The Senior Legal Officer - Contract Solicitor role involves providing high-level legal support and advice to the Council, focusing on the successful delivery of key commercial projects. The position requires a qualified solicitor with substantial experience in contract and commercial law, working in a flexible hybrid arrangement between home and the Doncaster office. Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, advising on commercial matters, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards. The role also includes preparing training programs for Council staff and members to maintain legal knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality legal and commercial advice to the Council and its officers.
  • Draft contracts, construction contracts, grants, and other commercial documents.
  • Represent the Council and deputise for other Council Officers.
  • Ensure compliance with professional and Council standards.
  • Prepare and present training programmes for team members and elected members.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEx Lawyer.
  • Substantial post-qualification experience.
  • Significant knowledge in Contract and Commercial matters.
  • Experience advising on significant commercial projects.
  • High standard of drafting, negotiating, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of Local Government Law and Procurement legislation.
