Summary: The role of Senior Legal Counsel involves providing legal support on a variety of commercial contracts, technology, intellectual property, and data protection matters within a fast-paced legal team. This position is a fixed-term maternity cover contract for 10 months, with the possibility of an additional 2 months, requiring a minimum of 2 days on-site in London. The successful candidate will work closely with various business divisions and manage workloads within the legal team. This opportunity is ideal for a confident and experienced commercial/technology lawyer looking to contribute to an innovative organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including data licences, services agreements, product development agreements, and outsourcing agreements.
- Providing general legal advice and support to various business divisions on day-to-day commercial and legal issues, including company secretarial duties.
- Proactively improving efficiencies for the legal and compliance team, including developing standard documents and playbooks.
- Liaising with investor representatives and supporting the General Counsel in managing external legal counsel.
- Managing workloads and priorities within the legal team and supervising junior members.
Key Skills:
- Results-driven with a proactive, goal-oriented, and commercial approach to decision-making.
- Experience in a top-tier firm or in-house team.
- Qualified to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales.
- Proven ability to draft complex commercial agreements under tight deadlines.
- Data protection and company secretarial experience are a plus but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills, able to deliver legal advice clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work autonomously with all levels of the business.
- Meticulous attention to detail with commercial awareness and common sense.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
