Summary: Equivar is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a long-term engagement in the financial services sector. The role involves delivering across the full software lifecycle, collaborating with development leads and business stakeholders to ensure the creation of scalable, high-quality software. Key responsibilities include contributing to various projects, engaging in architecture and design, and applying continuous integration practices. The position requires strong Java experience and familiarity with modern web technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to greenfield, integration, and legacy transformation projects using Java and React
- Engage in architecture, design, and implementation across backend and UI components
- Collaborate in Agile squads, contributing to planning, estimation, and iterative delivery
- Apply continuous integration and delivery practices, alongside automated testing
- Produce technical documentation with clarity for both development and stakeholder reference
- Take ownership of deliverables and communicate progress effectively across teams
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with Java (11+), RESTful APIs, and relational databases (Postgres, DB2, or SQL Server)
- Familiarity with React and Node.js or similar JavaScript frameworks, as well as modern HTML/CSS
- Exposure to Agile delivery environments (Scrum, Kanban) and associated tooling (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and supporting infrastructure (e.g. Jenkins, Docker)
- Ability to articulate technical decisions and engage with both business and technical teams
- A delivery mindset, focused on efficiency, quality, and stakeholder value
Salary (Rate): £650 daily
