Senior Java Engineer
Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Senior Java Engineer to work with a key client.
**Please note this role falls INSIDE IR35** The CESA Futures Programme is a major 2yr+ programme of work within the overarching Tax Admin Modernisation Programme. Currently completing the Discovery phase, CESA Futures will modernise the existing CESA application through the creation of new capabilities or the transfer of functionality to other existing systems across the client’s estate.
The remediated capabilities within Tax Admin are referred to as the Auxiliary Self-Assessment Solutions (ASAS), which itself consist of a number of products. These products contain Presentation, Service and Data layers. These are largely supported by the following technologies:
Presentation Layer:
- Remix React Framework
- JavaScript
- Form generation ‘engine’
Service Layer:
- Java
- .NET (to support an existing project)
- JSON
- RabbitMQ
Data Layer:
- MongoDB
- Oracle
The CESA Futures team follows agile principles, on a two-week sprint cadence, with multiple scrum teams forming the overall engineering team. Engineers are expected to be, or become, T-shaped and able to operate across the product stack, including testing (or have a drive to develop their skills in other areas).
The role requires a Senior Java Engineer with experience of, or awareness of, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with Backend and Frontend Engineers, Quality Engineering (QE), and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to design, develop, and deliver Historical Records Store (HRS) capabilities within the Auxillary Self Assessment Service (ASAS) programme, leveraging AI-assisted development practices where appropriate.
Requirements will be derived from the ASAS Historical Records Store Business and Functional Requirements and refined iteratively throughout the Agile delivery lifecycle. The team currently uses a combination of traditional build and Speckit to accelerate backend development and is supported by an experienced AI Engineer operating within a defined set of AI engineering principles, standards, and governance controls.
