The Role
As a Senior Java Developer, you will work on complex digital services, contributing to the development, modernisation and improvement of large-scale systems.
You will be expected to take ownership of projects, investigate technical challenges, find solutions and deliver high-quality outcomes. The role also involves working closely with other developers and providing technical leadership within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust Java-based applications and services.
- Refactor and modernise large and complex systems.
- Design and implement event-driven solutions.
- Develop and maintain microservices and APIs.
- Write comprehensive unit, integration and automated tests.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and identify effective solutions.
- Work collaboratively with developers, architects and wider technical teams.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and deliver them through to completion.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other team members.
Essential Technical Skills
- Strong Java development experience, particularly Java 11+
- Spring Boot
- Hibernate/JPA
- Dropwizard
- MongoDB
- Development and automated testing
- Experience working with large-scale system refactoring
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Senior-Level Experience: We are looking for someone who can operate independently at senior level and:
