Summary: The Senior Java Developer role in Glasgow focuses on developing Java services within an agile squad for an investment banking environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Java services within an agile squad.
- Utilize technologies such as multi-threaded Java, Sharded Mongo DB, and caching.
- Write SQL queries and work with relational databases (preferably Sybase and/or DB2).
- Engage with message-based architectures.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Learn the business supported by the applications.
- Apply agile software development practices.
Key Skills:
- Core Server Side Java including Data Structures and Concurrency.
- Spring, Junit.
- Linux.
- Relational Databases (Sybase and/or DB2) with SQL query writing ability.
- Understanding of message-based architectures.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Full SDLC experience and understanding.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Primary responsibilities:
The developer will work within an agile squad developing within a system comprising of numerous Java services that interact via messaging to produce the product outputs in Real Time. Technologies and techniques such as highly multi-threaded Java, Sharded Mongo DB and caching are used in the stack to provide the scale and performance that the product requires.
Skills:
- Core Server Side Java including Data Structures and Concurrency

- Relational Databases (Sybase and/or DB2 is preferable) with ability to write SQL queries
- Understanding of message-based architectures
