Summary: Senior Java Developer - Electronic Trading, Fixed Income position at a leading investment bank in London, focusing on the development and enhancement of low-latency systems for trading activities. The role involves collaboration with business stakeholders and technical direction influence within a high-performing global technology team. Candidates must possess extensive Java development experience and a strong background in financial services. The position is inside IR35 and requires on-site work four days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance auto-quoting and algorithmic pricing frameworks
- Lead design and development for Credit Cash trading components
- Translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions
- Participate in peer reviews to maintain high engineering standards
- Support QA processes and ensure consistent, high-quality delivery
- Investigate and resolve production issues, feeding insights back into design and development
Key Skills:
- Detail-oriented, collaborative approach with strong communication skills
- Extensive hands-on Server Side Java development experience
- Strong knowledge of Java Concurrency, RX Streams, caching (GridGain), Collections, messaging, and event-driven processing
- Experience with multicast messaging (Solace or RV)
- Solid SQL experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Sybase, or Oracle
- Proven experience designing low-latency application services
- Familiarity with DevOps tools including Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, and Helios
- 7+ years of Java development experience
- At least 2 years of Linux/UNIX and Shell Scripting experience
- Strong background in banking, capital markets, Front Office, or risk technology
- Solid understanding of technology within financial services
- Experience with electronic trading systems (nice to have)
- Exposure to cloud technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes (nice to have)
