Senior Infrastructure Platforms Engineer

The Role

You will play a key part in migrating infrastructure from traditional on-premise datacentres to Azure cloud platforms, while maintaining the stability and performance of existing services throughout the transition.

As the programme matures, the focus will shift increasingly toward automation, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and reliability engineering, making this an ideal role for someone already operating in or actively moving toward an SRE or PRE model.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and execute migration activities from on-premise infrastructure to Azure cloud
• Support enterprise hybrid environments spanning compute, storage, networking, and virtualisation
• Hands-on datacentre work including hardware installations, migrations, patching, and troubleshooting
• Support legacy and business-critical operating systems like Windows, Linux, Unix, and IBM AIX
• Drive Infrastructure as Code and automation practices across hybrid environments
• Contribute to SRE/PRE practices including SLI/SLO definition, reliability engineering, observability, and toil reduction
• Support monitoring, observability, logging, alerting, and operational dashboards
• Manage incidents, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and operational continuity platforms
• Support Zero Trust network security platforms including Zscaler ZIA and ZPA
• Ensure alignment with security and compliance standards including ISO 27001

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven hands-on infrastructure engineering experience in a medium to large enterprise environment
• Experience in or strong exposure to SRE or Platform Reliability Engineering (PRE) practices
• Strong experience with Azure cloud services and VMware infrastructure
• Solid knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, Unix, and IBM AIX operating systems
• Experience with datacentre operations - rack/stack, cabling, hardware replacement, migrations
• Hands-on experience with automation and scripting - PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Ansible, ARM/Bicep or similar
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering practices
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud migration and transformation programmes
• Knowledge of networking concepts - routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, load balancing
• Experience integrating infrastructure services with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow
• Exposure to Zero Trust and secure access technologies such as Zscaler ZIA/ZPA
• Experience operating in ISO 27001 or similarly regulated environments
