Summary: The Senior HR Business Partner role involves providing expert HR support and strategic guidance within a university setting, focusing on people management practices that align with institutional goals. The position requires advising senior leaders, managing HR projects, and leading a team of HR Business Partners. This strategic role emphasizes strong leadership and collaboration to enhance cultural and operational excellence. The contract is temporary for 12 months, full-time at 37 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and coach senior managers on HR strategy, policy, and complex employment matters.
  • Lead the development and delivery of People Plans, KPIs, and local HR strategies.
  • Manage recruitment and resourcing needs in collaboration with recruitment teams.
  • Ensure consistent handling of ER cases (grievances, absence, disciplinary).
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and lead staff engagement initiatives.
  • Act as internal lead on specific HR areas (e.g. change, talent, policy).
  • Develop and deliver training to embed HR policies and boost manager capability.
  • Monitor and improve HR KPIs; analyse data to inform decisions.
  • Liaise with trade unions and staff groups to foster effective partnerships.
  • Represent HR at University committees and lead on key project work.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment law and best practice.
  • Oversee and develop HRBP team performance and service delivery.
  • Ensure ERP systems and processes are embedded and effectively used.
