Summary: The Senior Group Reporting Accountant role involves supporting the preparation of the group's Annual Report and Accounts and Interim Results Statement for a large client in the utilities sector. The position requires expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and accounting standards, with a focus on enhancing documentation and controls. This is a 12-month hybrid contract based in Glasgow, classified as inside IR35. The successful candidate will work closely with the Statutory Reporting Manager and Technical Reporting Manager on various accounting projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review disclosure and supporting information for key notes within the consolidated financial statements.
  • Review subsidiary financial statements and manage audits for corporate and holding entities.
  • Support financial reporting projects, including the adoption of new accounting standards.
  • Assist in implementing 'UK SOX' requirements for financial statements process and ensure compliance with applicable standards.

Key Skills:

  • Fully qualified Accountant with experience in Financial Reporting or External Audit, ideally with plc or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience of reporting and corporate governance requirements.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and corporate governance requirements.
  • Previous knowledge of Thomson-Reuters OneSource.
  • Knowledge of statutory reporting and consolidation systems, processes, and workflow.

Senior Group Reporting Accountant

My large client in the utilities sector is currently looking for an experienced Senior Group Reporting Accountant to join their team on a 12 month contract basis to assist with my client's group Annual Report and Accounts ("ARA") and Interim Results Statement.

As a Group Statutory Reporting Accountant will work primarily on specific accounting areas for the group financial statements, including note preparation for the accounts, and work to enhance documentation and controls.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Group Financial Statements - Prepare and review of the disclosure and supporting information for key notes within the consolidated financial statements of the group in accordance with the ARA, Preliminary Results, and Interim Results timetables.
  • Subsidiary Accounts - Review of subsidiary financial statements and manage the audit for certain corporate and holding entities. Become a super-user for the Group's accounts production software (Thomson-Reuters OneSource) and provide support to divisional business users preparing their subsidiary financial statements.
  • Accounting Projects - Support the Statutory Reporting Manager and Technical Reporting Manager on financial reporting projects, such as the adoption of new accounting standards and group investment and divestment activities and replacement of the consolidation reporting tool.
  • Control & Compliance - Assist in implementation of 'UK SOX' requirements for financial statements process. Ensure compliance with all applicable standards, legislation, and code.

Skills that would make you successful in this role:

  • Fully qualified Accountant with Experience in a Financial Reporting or External Audit role, ideally with plc or relevant industry experience
  • Experience of reporting and corporate governance requirements would be advantageous
  • Fully up to date knowledge of accounting standards and corporate governance requirements
