Summary: The Senior Group Accountant role is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in London, focusing on supporting the Group Finance function of a global Private Equity firm. The position requires a technically proficient accountant to manage the group consolidation process, ensure compliance with IFRS, and assist in preparing consolidated financial statements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in group reporting and IFRS consolidations, along with advanced Excel skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a consolidation model in Excel to validate the accuracy and completeness of the group consolidation system.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between consolidation system outputs and offline models.
- Provide assurance over the integrity of group financial data and consolidation processes.
- Review proforma financial statements to ensure compliance with IFRS reporting requirements.
- Support the enhancement of financial statement disclosures in line with audit expectations and best practices.
- Apply working knowledge of IFRS 16 to review lease accounting across the group.
- Prepare reconciliations from local GAAP to IFRS across group entities.
- Ensure all supporting documentation is audit-ready and well-organized.
- Act as a key contact for auditors on consolidation and financial reporting matters.
Key Skills:
- Fully qualified ACA or equivalent accountant with 2-3 years of post-qualified experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong background in group reporting and IFRS consolidations.
- Financial services experience preferred, either within industry or professional services.
- Private Equity experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience building and reviewing complex models.
- Familiarity with consolidation systems, particularly Tagetik, is desirable.
- Highly independent and able to operate autonomously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational capability.
- Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and auditors.

Overview

This role will play a critical part in supporting the group consolidation process, ensuring IFRS compliance, and assisting with the group’s consolidated financial statements.

Candidate Profile:
- Fully qualified ACA or equivalent accountant with a 2-3 years of post qualified experience gained within a corporate environment.
