Senior General Ledger Accountant

Position Summary

The Senior General Ledger Accountant will take full operational ownership of the core accounting, month-end ledger entries, balance sheet control, subsidiary accounts, and statutory audit compliance for CBS News International.

This role unbundles traditional legacy accounting duties to focus specifically on maintaining total accuracy across the general ledger, managing sub-entities, and leading external audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• General Ledger & Month-End: Manage accurate and timely month-end accounting entries into Oracle Fusion (including payroll journals, manual accruals, prepayments, and closing entries).
• Balance Sheet Control: Perform robust month-end balance sheet reconciliations across key GL accounts.
• Subsidiary Management: End-to-end financial control for 2 x UK Subsidiary companies (AP, AR, cash flow, budgets, forecasts, and month-end close).
• Statutory Audit & External Oversight: Act as the primary point of contact for external audits across the UK subsidiaries and international entity requirements.
• Taxation: Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns for News and UK Subsidiaries.
• Cash Flow & Payments Liaison: Monitor cash flow across core bank accounts and liaise directly with the centralized payments team based in Budapest.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Proven track record in a senior financial accounting or general ledger role.
• Hands-on proficiency with Oracle Fusion (essential) and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (e.g., VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP).
• Strong understanding of statutory audit requirements, subsidiary accounting, and VAT submissions.
• Ability to work effectively with US-based controllership teams.
