Summary: The Senior GCP Network Engineer role involves working within a large-scale Public Cloud Platform, focusing on GCP Networking and Infrastructure-as-Code practices. The position requires hands-on engineering to support platform stability and secure cloud adoption in a regulated enterprise environment. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to enhance overall system performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues. This is a contract position with a strong emphasis on enterprise-scale networking solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on engineering across GCP Cloud Networking at enterprise scale
- Design, build, configure, and optimise GCP network architectures
- Work on major networking initiatives including network deployment & implementation, network scaling & optimisation, and sustaining engineering & technology refresh
- Support and troubleshoot enterprise connectivity issues across the platform
- Manage and resolve incidents and problems related to GCP networking and connectivity
- Work closely with platform, security, and application teams to improve overall stability
- Review and provide feedback on Terraform and infrastructure code
- Develop, deploy, and own the full lifecycle of cloud networking solutions
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with security, control, and governance requirements
Key Skills:
- Senior-level GCP Cloud Engineering experience with a strong networking focus
- Proven enterprise-scale GCP networking design & implementation
- Hands-on Terraform / Terraform Cloud experience
- Strong understanding of cloud security, identity, and governance
- Experience working in regulated or large enterprise environments
- Ability to operate in production-critical environments
- GCP Networking (Must-Have) including Dedicated Interconnect, VPC Network Peering, Cloud Routers, Firewalls, Cloud NAT, Google DNS, IAM, VPC Service Controls
- Experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage Buckets, Google Data / AI products
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines using Git, Terraform Cloud, HashiCorp Vault, Harness, Jenkins
- GCP Certifications (Professional Cloud Network Engineer / Architect preferred)
- Experience acting as a technical SME or consultant
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
