Summary: The role of Senior GCP Data Engineer involves architecting and optimizing cloud-based data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to develop scalable data pipelines and ensure data quality and compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data engineering and proficiency in relevant tools and languages. This is a contract position based in London with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Develop ETL processes using tools like Cloud Dataflow, Apache Beam, BigQuery, and Cloud Composer
- Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements
- Optimize performance and cost-efficiency of GCP data services
- Implement data quality, monitoring, and governance practices
- Ensure security and compliance best practices in data handling
- Automate infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 1–2 years hands-on with Google Cloud Platform
- Strong experience with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, and Dataflow
- Proficient in SQL, Python, and Apache Beam
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments
- Experience with Terraform, Cloud Build, or similar tools for infrastructure automation
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and architecture
- Consulting background is a plus
- Strong communication skills (oral & written)
