Summary: The Senior GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer role involves driving Google Cloud Platform (GCP) adoption and innovation within a client's Public Cloud Platform team. The position requires expertise in building secure and scalable GCP infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern DevOps practices. The engineer will contribute to shaping GCP strategy and automation frameworks while collaborating with various teams to ensure secure cloud operations. This is a contract position based in West Yorkshire, UK, with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on GCP engineering with strong expertise in DevOps and CI/CD practices.
  • Design, build, and maintain GCP Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform / Terraform Cloud.
  • Develop and automate workflows and tools using Python scripting.
  • Curate GCP Cloud Products and Infrastructure aligned with organisational standards.
  • Manage and optimise Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters, Istio Service Mesh, and container orchestration.
  • Audit and restructure existing Terraform modules and state files for scalability and compliance.
  • Implement security-focused Terraform modules with policy-as-code (Sentinel, OPA).
  • Enforce GCP Organisation Policies, including access, encryption, and network governance.
  • Integrate IaC with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Harness, Jenkins, and GitHub.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, and platform teams to ensure secure and compliant cloud operations.
