Summary: This role is for a Senior Fund Accountant on a 6-month fixed-term contract, reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager. The position involves managing day-to-day accounting for fund structures, preparing financial statements, and mentoring junior staff. The candidate will be part of a growing team within the Aztec Group, focusing on delivering high-quality accounting services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bookkeep a complex range of funds, management companies, and associated fund structures.
- Complete all aspects of accounting matters for a portfolio of fund structures, including preparation, reconciliation, and proofing of investor reports and statutory financial statements.
- Deal with routine audit queries and liaise with clients and intermediaries.
- Prepare periodic bank reconciliations and provide supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate records on eFront and Microsoft Excel working paper schedules.
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices and other payments.
- Act as a mentor to junior staff under the supervision of management.
Key Skills:
- Relevant Accounting qualification (preferably ACCA or ACA).
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience in the preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Proficient in the use of Excel and new systems/software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in training, coaching, or mentoring junior staff.
- Previous industry experience in Fund Administration is desirable but not essential.

What you'll be doing
- Bookkeep a complex range of funds, management companies and associated fund structures
- Complete all aspects of accounting matters for a portfolio of fund structures, including the preparation, reconciliation and proofing of investor reports, statutory financial statements, and ad hoc investor queries
- Deal with the completion of routine audit queries and liaise with clients and intermediaries
- Prepare periodic bank reconciliations and provide supporting documentation evidencing transactions are completed within a robust control environment
- Maintain accurate records on eFront and Microsoft Excel working paper schedules for all aspects of accounting
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices and other payments
- Act as a mentor to junior staff under the supervision of management
What we're looking for
- The candidate will ideally hold a relevant Accounting qualification (preferably ACCA or ACA)
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS
- Experience of the preparation of statutory financial statements is essential
- Experience of reviewing statutory accounts
- Proficient in the use of Excel, new systems and software
