Summary: The Senior Front End Engineer role is a 12-month contract position focused on building modern, scalable user interfaces within a collaborative product team. The ideal candidate will work closely with various stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital products using a range of technologies. This position requires strong front-end engineering skills and experience in the trading domain, particularly in commodities, FX, or energy trading. The role is hybrid and classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building modern, scalable UIs using technologies such as ES6, React, Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, SQL/NoSQL, CSS, CSS-in-JS, Redux, Webpack, Jest, and Enzyme
- Delivering high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate, and gather feedback
- Contributing as a proactive member of an autonomous product team, stepping in wherever needed
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with modern JavaScript, testing, debugging, and automation
- A passion for building user-friendly, data-rich applications
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience deploying production applications (eg, Azure, AWS)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
- A strong focus on performance, accessibility, and API design
- High standards for user experience
- Solid Computer Science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, OOP, systems architecture
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Background in commodities, FX, or energy trading
- Experience working with trading systems, pricing engines, or market data
- Understanding of Real Time systems, low-latency design, and distributed architectures
- Ability to work closely with traders and quants
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is a plus
