Summary: The Senior Front-End Developer role involves joining a leading technology team to enhance a modern Design System, ensuring consistent and accessible UI experiences across various digital products. The position requires collaboration with UX designers and product owners while mentoring junior developers. The contract is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days onsite in London, and is classified as inside IR35. Candidates must be UK-based and possess expert-level skills in React and TypeScript.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain reusable UI components using React and TypeScript
- Mentor and guide junior developers and contractors, focusing on deliverables and skills growth
- Support internal teams adopting the design system, ensuring proper implementation of standards
- Translate Figma designs into high-quality, accessible, and performant components
- Use Storybook for cross-team adoption and component documentation
- Apply deep knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) to maintain compliance
- Conduct code reviews and advocate frontend best practices
- Work with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for AI-powered integrations (nice-to-have)
- Collect feedback from teams and iterate on system components
Key Skills:
- Expert-level proficiency in React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Strong understanding of React hooks, Context API, and advanced design patterns
- Experience with component-driven development and tools like Storybook
- Familiarity with state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, etc.)
- Knowledge of design systems, UI libraries, and scalable architecture principles
- Proficiency in CSS-in-JS, responsive design, and theming strategies
- Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress)
- Ability to implement pixel-perfect UI components from Figma designs
