Senior Front End Developer

Are you an experienced frontend developer with a passion for crafting UI in AAA games?

A leading game UX/UI studio is seeking a Senior Frontend Developer to join on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This hybrid role, based in Brighton, offers the chance to lead a team working directly in engine on user interface development for some of the industry’s biggest titles.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading the frontend development of UI features for high-profile game projects
• Collaborating with artists, designers, and engineers to implement user-friendly interfaces
• Working in engine to bring interactive UI elements to life using HTML-based tools
• Ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability of UI systems across platforms
• Managing and mentoring a small team of developers, guiding both workflow and quality
• Conducting UI updates, performance tuning, and troubleshooting in production environments
• Supporting the QA process through automated testing and quality best practices
• Developing clean and scalable CSS and JavaScript tailored for in-game use
• Working within a hybrid studio setup: in-office three days a week, remote on others

What we're looking for:

• 3+ years of experience developing UI or games using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Proficiency with frameworks such as Coherent Gameface, Redux, React, jQuery, or Preact
• Experience working with game engines that support HTML-based UI (Unreal or similar)
• Strong grasp of performance optimisation and UI loading processes
• Demonstrable portfolio of previous game UI work
• Proven experience managing a team of five or more
• Knowledge of data binding and scripting workflows
• Familiarity with automated QA practices
• Advanced customisation skills with CSS and JavaScript
