Summary: Our client, a global fashion brand, is seeking a Freelance Footwear Designer to create a capsule collection of lifestyle footwear that combines craftsmanship and urban style. The role involves designing both men's and women's footwear, focusing on sustainability and trend research. The designer will collaborate closely with the Head of Design and manage the full design cycle independently. Immediate start is preferred for this hybrid position based in London, Manchester, or Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research seasonal trends, materials, and silhouettes within lifestyle and utility-driven footwear.
- Create direction boards with themes, colours, and material stories for SS26.
- Design and develop original footwear concepts, sketches, and detailed technical drawings.
- Collaborate with the Head of Design to shape a cohesive and commercially viable range plan.
- Build tech packs/spec sheets and liaise with factories to ensure design accuracy.
- Support fit reviews and update designs based on feedback.
Key Skills:
- Min 5+ years’ experience in footwear design, ideally across canvas, casual, or lifestyle categories.
- Strong understanding of materials, lasts, and construction for both men’s and women’s footwear.
- Skilled in Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD tools.
- Creative, self-driven, and comfortable managing full design cycles independently.
