Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join a NSW Government Department on a contract basis through to November. This role involves delivering high-quality financial reporting, providing technical accounting advice, and implementing system-driven improvements within the finance function. The position is based in Sydney CBD and offers a hybrid working arrangement. The successful candidate will engage with various stakeholders and contribute to significant financial processes and improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to year-end financial statements and statutory reporting
- Provide strong technical accounting advice, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Treasury policies
- Support and deliver audit activities, acting as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors
- Work across SAP and TM1, including reporting, analysis, and system enhancements
- Contribute to system implementations, upgrades, and finance transformation initiatives
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance controls, efficiency, and data integrity
- Engage effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management
Key Skills:
- CPA or CA qualified
- Proven experience in a Senior Financial Accountant or similar role
- Strong background in audit and financial reporting
- Hands-on experience with SAP and TM1
- Demonstrated experience with system implementations and finance process improvement
- High-level technical accounting capability within a complex or regulated environment
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders
