Summary: The Senior Manager – Financial Control & Analysis is a pivotal role within a public sector organization based in Glasgow, responsible for overseeing financial governance, reporting, and analysis. This position requires collaboration with senior leaders to manage financial risks and support strategic decision-making. The role is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract with a hybrid working arrangement. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive financial expertise to enhance business performance and ensure compliance with public financial management principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and direct finance and corporate governance processes in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Develop sustainable financial plans and objectives through strategic options and innovative methods.
• Oversee financial accounting, analysis, and reporting activities, ensuring robust financial controls.
• Produce insightful management reporting and analysis to support business decision-making.
• Advise senior stakeholders on strategies to manage business performance and finance risks.
• Coach and lead the finance team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
• Drive the business planning process and optimize the use of taxpayer funds.
• Create innovative budgeting and forecasting approaches to improve financial performance.

Key Skills:

• Significant post-qualification experience with relevant accounting institution (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW).
• Thorough knowledge of risk management and governance procedures.
• Strong commercial experience with an understanding of investment regulations.
• Experience in balancing stakeholder expectations with business needs.
• Ability to influence and lead senior stakeholders through conflict resolution.
• Experience in leading and motivating a team through change.
• OPEX experience preferred over banking.
