Summary: The Senior Manager Finance Transformation role involves overseeing finance operations, data management, and system changes within an established global insurer. Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise between various teams involved in the finance close process.
  • Work with wider finance teams to ensure data is fit for purpose.
  • Oversee key month-end close processes from data sourcing to trial balance production.
  • Partner with external auditors to manage audit deliverables.
  • Build relationships with the underwriting team.
  • Ensure processes meet data sourcing and management principles.
  • Manage the Finance change request process and prioritize initiatives.
  • Develop ad-hoc improvements for team processes.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified accountant with post-qualified experience in Insurance.
  • Experience in finance operations or finance data roles.
  • Team management experience is advantageous.
  • Experience managing or implementing finance systems.
  • Knowledge of SOX control framework and experience with auditors.
  • Interest in emerging technology and continuous learning.
  • Understanding of key finance close processes.
  • Comfortable with data sourcing strategies and data management principles.
  • Able to use technology to automate processes.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL or other programming languages is a plus.

Salary (Rate): £125,000.00 yearly

SENIOR MANAGER FINANCE TRANSFORMATION, 12mth FTC

Essential experience: Finance Operations/Data/System + Change & Transformation + Insurance

Contract: 12mths Fixed term contract £100,000 - £125,000 + package (incl. 25% bonus, pension etc.)

Offices London: hybrid WFH

Pear Talent is representing an established global Insurer who have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Manager Finance Transformation, on a 12mth contract. Your accounting expertise combined with understanding and interest in finance data and technology will be crucial. As part of the Finance Team, you'll report to the Head of Finance Operations, with accountability for the data which is being used by Finance, including the processes and systems to produce that data.

Key accountabilities:

  • Liaise between the various teams involved in the finance close process.
  • Working with the wider finance teams to ensure the data is fit for purpose, e.g. FP&A, Reg Reporting and Actuarial.
  • Oversight of key month end close processes from data sourcing through to production of the trial balance, including; reviewing work of offshore teams and executing key controls, supporting expense management team through close processes
  • Partner with external auditors to manage and organise audit deliverables from both a functional and IT general controls perspective
  • Build good working relationships with the underwriting team
  • Ensure processes meet our data sourcing and data management principles
  • Partner with support teams at Oracle to ensure any changes meet Finance’s requirements
  • Manage the Finance change request process and able to understand the requirements across a wide range of initiatives and make decisions around priorities, appropriate tooling and cost benefit analysis.
  • Developing ad-hoc improvements for the teams processes such as basic Airtable or Dataiku models.

Required experience:

  • Qualified accountant with post-qualified experience gained in Insurance.
  • Previous robust experience within finance, finance operations or finance data role
  • Team management experience advantageous.
  • Prior experience managing and / or implementing finance systems (such as General Ledgers/ ERP systems).
  • Knowledge of SOX control framework and experience working with auditors.
  • Interest in emerging technology essential and attitude of continuous learning.
  • Understanding of key finance close processes such as allocations or eliminations.
  • Comfortable with data and familiar with data sourcing strategies, data contracts and good data management principles.
  • Able to use technology to automate and scale processes.
  • Provide valuable insight and new ideas that drive continuous improvement.
  • Inspire collaboration with your peers and participate in creating an environment that encourages learning and growth.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL or other languages a plus.
