Role Title: Senior Finance Business Partner x2
Type: Interim 6-month contract
Day Rate: £400 to £600 per day Inside IR35
Hybrid: Ideally, 2 to 3 days per week

Sellick Partnership are working with a local authority who are seeking two experienced Senior Finance Business Partners to join their finance team on an interim basis. This is a hands-on role for a fully qualified accountant with recent District or Borough Council experience, working closely with Service Managers and Directors to understand their services, identify financial issues and provide proactive advice, challenge and solutions.
The role will involve forecasting, budget management, savings and transformation, as well as supporting senior finance leadership with key financial risks and opportunities. Initially, the successful candidates will be required to work on site in Warwickshire for approximately four days per week for the first couple of weeks, reducing to around 2-3 days per week thereafter depending on business need.
The responsibilities of the Senior Finance Business Partner will be
- Partnering with Service Managers and Directors to understand their financial position, identify issues and provide effective financial guidance.
- Developing forecasts, investigating overspends and identifying savings, efficiencies and transformation opportunities across aligned services.
- Leading budget setting for allocated services and contributing to the wider Medium-Term Financial Strategy, alongside monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Identifying emerging financial risks and opportunities, providing clear analysis and recommendations to senior finance leadership.
The ideal candidate for the Senior Finance Business Partner role will have
- A fully qualified accountancy qualification such as CIPFA, ACA or ACCA.
- Recent and relevant experience within a District or Borough Council.
- Strong business partnering experience with the confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
- A hands-on approach with strong experience across forecasting, budgeting, savings and financial analysis.
- The ability to quickly understand complex services, unpick financial issues and provide practical solutions.
