Summary: The Senior Finance Analyst – Controls role at Ocado Retail is a six-month fixed-term contract focused on enhancing financial controls within the organization. The position involves assessing and improving the effectiveness of financial controls, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The analyst will also be responsible for reporting on control maturity and remediation efforts to the Finance Leadership Team. This role requires a proactive approach to driving change and improving financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing the effectiveness of financial controls through assessment and testing.
- Working with process owners to raise and track remediation actions.
- Enhancing controls maturity across the finance function and promoting control awareness.
- Owning the GRC tool and assisting in building reporting improvements.
- Liaising with external and internal auditors and addressing their requests.
- Reporting on the progress of control environment maturity and remediation efforts to the Finance Leadership Team.
Key Skills:
- Qualified ACA/ACCA.
- Experience in assessing financial controls through audit engagements or industry roles.
- Experience in implementing and/or monitoring a financial control framework.
- Proven ability to explain technical matters to non-experts.
- Desire to assess and challenge effectiveness and optimize financial processes.
- Proactive attitude in seeking solutions and implementing change.
- Comfortable communicating with senior management and key stakeholders.

About The Team And The Role
You will be a key member of the Financial Reporting and Controls team and integral to driving improvements in the financial controls landscape at Ocado Retail. Key responsibilities will include liaison across the finance function and wider business to review and assess the controls in place and work together to uplift the current environment in response to the additional regulatory requirements. A strong desire to seek continual, collaborative improvement is a necessity.
What You’ll Do
- Reviewing the effectiveness of controls: Be the second line of defence within the financial controls team through assessment and testing of the design and operating effectiveness of financial controls.
- Working with process owners to raise remediation actions and tracking these through to completion.
- Enhance controls maturity across the finance function: Work closely with process owners and the wider business to promote control awareness, understanding of how to comply with the financial controls framework policy, accountability for controls and the implementation of improvement recommendations, whilst maintaining focus on the wider vision of improving control environment maturity. This is underpinned through the roles ownership of our GRC tool and assisting in building reporting improvements, including ongoing maintenance, documentation and monitoring of financial controls.
- Reporting and governance: Liaising with external and internal Auditors, addressing requests and oversight of implementation of areas of action. Reporting on the progress of the maturity of the control environment and remediation efforts to the Finance Leadership Team.
Who You Are
Qualified ACA/ACCA
Experience of assessing financial controls either through audit engagements or from roles working in industry
Experience of implementing and/or monitoring a financial control framework
Proven ability to explain technical matters to non-experts
Desire to assess and challenge effectiveness and optimise financial processes to drive change
A “can do” attitude, proactive in seeking solutions and implementing change
Comfortable communicating with senior management and key stakeholders
