Key Responsibilities:
- Work 80% of the time in the Emergency Department with direct supervision from consultants.
- Engage in specialized fellowship options for 20% of the role, including Pre-Hospital, Intensive Care, and Quality Improvement.
- Participate in departmental teaching and educational supervision by a consultant.
- Involve in clinical activities such as Stroke Thrombolysis, Major Trauma, and Acute Paediatrics.
- Support governance, management, and teaching within the Emergency Department.
- Work on a full shift rota, including weekends and night shifts.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects and other departmental initiatives.

Exciting opportunities for experienced doctors in Emergency Medicine
Take time out of training to pursue an interest whilst joining a great ED team.
Work in a special interest area 20% of the time, 80% on ED shop floor.
12 month posts ideal for a OOPE or after ST3.

Options
- Pre-hospital Fellowship. Working with Bath and Somerset Air Ambulance. An excellent introduction if considering a career in PHEM. Please note this is not PHEM training.
- ICM: Working with the intensive care team on the middle grade tier. This would be ideal for someone interested in boosting their critical care skills or considering dual accreditation.
- Paediatrics: This 20% could involve general paediatric inpatients, neonates and specialisms and be tailored to you.
- Education/simulation. Take a lead on supporting and building simulation training within the ED.
- High Impact Users. Help make a real difference to how we manage and support people supported by a dedicated EM consultant and and high impact user team.
- Quality Improvement. Run a meaningful QI project with support from ED consultant and Coach House team using Quality, Service, Improvement and Redesign (QSIR) programme.
- Ultrasound Fellowship: Help expand departmental US teaching, improve US governance, and developing your own US skills.

80% of your post is clinical: Working in the ED with direct shop floor supervision from our 18 consultants, 2 Associate Specialists, 1 consultant nurse, and joining an increasing team of experienced ED middle grades/registrars in training. You will be working alongside and supporting a large team of clinicians including trust doctors, FY2, ACCS and GP trainees, ST3 and RCEM credentialled ACPs and those in training.
The post offers protected weekly departmental teaching and benefits from educational supervision by a consultant as well as many other educational opportunities on shift. A typical day may see you involved in Stroke Thrombolysis, PPCI for STEMI, Major Trauma (as a busy trauma unit) and Acute Paediatrics as well as Minor Injuries.
You will work 80% of your hours on a full shift rota on our middle grade rota which involves weekends at 1:3 ratio. (Pro rata if less than full time) and night shifts. All night shifts should have 2 senior decision makers/Registrars.
There are opportunities to get involved in all aspects of ED including governance, management, teaching, ultrasound, and others.
We will support applications for an OOPE/OOPC.
**We are hoping to also relaunch a 80:20 fellowship in Global Health where we have already built links with an Emergency Department in Gulu, Northern Uganda. This role would involve 3 day pre-deployment training, and an opportunity to travel for 6 weeks to Northern Uganda where you would be involved in quality improvement but not direct clinical care supported by a senior clinician.
