Summary: Randstad is looking for a Senior / Section Engineer to work with a reputable highways contractor on a project in North London, specifically near Walthamstow. The role involves overseeing various aspects of highway construction and maintenance, with a focus on quality control and project management. Candidates with prior experience in highways contracts are highly encouraged to apply. This position is expected to last for 6 months and is paid via CIS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing input into design and resolving constructability issues
- Driving the quality control / assurance process with subcontractors
- Project Leadership: Take overall responsibility for the successful completion of designated sections or full projects, leading by example and ensuring the day-to-day delivery of construction work.
- Program Management: Draw up and monitor 4 weeks program, ensuring project milestones are achieved.
- Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate progress records such as As built, check sheet, etc. and deliver regular Toolbox Talks to keep the team aligned.
- Budget & Cost Control: Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently and within the specified contract budget.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm, implement safety policies, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, conducting safety tours and supporting accident/incident investigations.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support to ensure contractual arrangements are met.
- Sustainability & Values: Support and drive the delivery of sustainability initiatives, living the company's values.
Key Skills:
- Experience in highways contracts (e.g., National Highways / TFL)
- Strong project management skills
