Senior Electrical Engineer (SME)
Major UK data centre programme involving modifications to existing facilities to support AI workloads.
Salary: Competitive hourly rate
Engagement: Contract
Work Pattern: Hybrid role (three days in office)

Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering activities for facility upgrades designed to support high-density AI compute loads.
- Define electrical requirements for liquid cooling integration including pumps, controls, monitoring and redundancy.
- Assess existing MV/LV distribution and specify modifications to support increased power demand and thermal load.
- Produce and review electrical calculations, single-line diagrams, synoptic diagrams, specifications and technical notices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Coordinate with mechanical, HVAC, BMS, fire safety, civil and architectural teams to ensure proper integration of upgraded systems.
- Support testing, commissioning and validation of electrical modifications.
- Act as a subject-matter expert, representing the electrical discipline in client meetings and technical workshops.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Strong MV/LV experience including distribution, protection, cable sizing, UPS, generators and resilience-driven electrical design.
- Experience supporting mechanical systems electrically, ideally in environments using liquid cooling or high-density thermal management.
- Background in retrofit or upgrade projects for mission-critical facilities.
- Ability to lead electrical packages independently and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Comfortable coordinating with multiple technical disciplines and engaging directly with clients.
