Summary: The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and design management for complex infrastructure and rail projects, primarily in Gwynedd/Snowdonia and wider UK schemes. This role requires a strong focus on project lifecycle delivery, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The successful candidate will also mentor junior engineers and engage with various stakeholders to drive project success. The position is based in London, requiring attendance at the Central London office three days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical engineering activities from concept and detailed design through to installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Oversee electrical installations, ensuring compliance with design intent and industry standards.
  • Ensure full adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) regulations across all stages of delivery.
  • Support project planning, risk assessments, and technical problem-solving on live sites.
  • Produce and review detailed electrical design documentation, including single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and cable schedules.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant UK standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage BIM-compliant drawing production and review.
  • Coordinate closely with CAD and BIM teams to ensure design accuracy and clash resolution.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and design team members.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and best practices.

Key Skills:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/MEng) or HNC/HND with substantial relevant experience.
  • Proven experience within rail, power, infrastructure, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong electrical design capability with practical installation knowledge.
  • Experience producing and reviewing detailed engineering documentation.
  • Working knowledge of BIM processes and multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Strong understanding of UK HSE regulations and electrical compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership (desirable).
  • Experience working within rail environments or major infrastructure programmes (desirable).
  • Knowledge of LV/HV systems, substations, or traction power systems (desirable).
  • Site-based experience within operational or high-risk environments (desirable).

About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of mechanical, electrical, and telecommunication solutions for major infrastructure projects, is seeking a highly capable Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing team.

This role will provide technical leadership, design management, and installation support across complex infrastructure and rail projects. While projects are regionally focused in Gwynedd/Snowdonia and wider UK infrastructure schemes, the successful candidate may be based in London, with a requirement to attend the Central London office three days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Lifecycle Delivery
  • Lead electrical engineering activities from concept and detailed design through to installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Oversee electrical installations, ensuring compliance with design intent and industry standards.

  • Technical Design & Documentation
  • Produce and review detailed electrical design documentation, including:
  • Single-line diagrams and schematics
  • Layout drawings and cable schedules
  • Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant UK standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical authority and assurance across assigned projects.
  • BIM & Multidisciplinary Coordination
  • Manage BIM-compliant drawing production and review.
  • Coordinate closely with CAD and BIM teams to ensure design accuracy and clash resolution.
  • Resolve technical interface issues between electrical, mechanical, civil, and telecoms disciplines.
  • Engage with stakeholders, contractors, and clients to address technical queries and drive solutions.

Candidate Requirements

Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/MEng) or HNC/HND with substantial relevant experience.

Proven experience within rail, power, infrastructure, or heavy industrial environments.

Strong electrical design capability with practical installation knowledge.

Experience producing and reviewing detailed engineering documentation.

Working knowledge of BIM processes and multidisciplinary project environments.

Strong understanding of UK HSE regulations and electrical compliance standards.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.

Experience working within rail environments or major infrastructure programmes.

Working Arrangement

Candidates may be based in Gwynedd/Snowdonia or London.

London-based candidates must be office-based in Central London three days per week.
