Summary: This role seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join a leading nuclear consultancy, focusing on low voltage electrical distribution systems in complex environments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the safety, functionality, or compliance of low voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Provides internal stakeholders with appropriate challenge and professional advice for high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies solutions to engineering problems to improve efficiency, safety, and reduce operating costs.

Key Skills:

  • Preferably Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Good knowledge of low voltage electrical distribution systems.
  • Basic understanding of interfaces between disciplines in multi-disciplined design efforts.
  • Basic understanding of risk management and value engineering principles.
  • Working knowledge of health & safety legislation and industry standards.
  • Skilled in technical writing of Electrical Services Specifications and related documents.
  • Proficiency in LV design software and lighting design software.
  • Good knowledge of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations and associated guidance.
  • Basic knowledge in CAD.

The Opportunity

Due to continuous project expansion, a fantastic opportunity has opened up with our leading nuclear consultancy for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the LV and Small Power design team based at Stockton, but other locations will be considered.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  • Ensures the safety, functionality or compliance of low voltage electrical distribution systems
  • Provides internal stakeholders with appropriate challenge and professional advice to ensure the development or delivery of high-quality engineering solutions for the building services/ LVAC Electrical design and assurance.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies appropriate solutions to engineering problems that improve efficiency or effectiveness, while improving safety and reducing operating costs.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

  • Preferably Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer, recognised international equivalent or possesses equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Good knowledge of low voltage electrical distribution systems,
  • Basic understanding of the interfaces between own discipline / functional specialism and the wider engineering team deployed on a complex multi-disciplined design, construction and commissioning effort
  • Basic understanding of the principles of risk management and value engineering
  • Working knowledge of applicable health & safety legislation, industry best practice, standards and guidance
  • Skilled Technical writing of Electrical Services Specifications. Value Engineering reports, Earthing and Bonding Plans, Designers Risk Assessments.
  • Proficiency in LV design software, and Lighting design software (Pro design/ Amtech/Havecomp/ Dialux / Relux)
  • Good knowledge of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations latest version and associated guidance documents
  • Basic knowledge in CAD.
