Senior EC&I Engineer - Control Systems £66.91ph - 37 hours per week / 4.5 days INSIDE IR35 Location: Warrington - Hybrid 2 to 3 days on site at Hinton House Warrington
The CE&I Design Engineer will act as the Control Systems Lead and Intelligent Client for the MSSS SEP 3 Project, providing technical leadership and governance over the development and delivery of the control system solution by an appointed System Integrator.
The role is responsible for ensuring the control system design meets Sellafield requirements, nuclear safety requirements, operational needs, and applicable standards throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will provide technical oversight through detailed design, implementation, testing, commissioning and handover.
This role does not involve software development but focuses on specification, technical assurance, design review, stakeholder engagement, and acceptance of the delivered system.
However, the role does require the production of detailed functional/operational requirements to support the Contract with the chosen System Integrator.
This will be done using the using the Sellafield Limited design specification tool CONCISE.
Essential
- Academic Qualification: HNC or equivalent
- Security Clearance: BPSS
- Hours: 37 hours over 4 ½ days a week
- Location: Hybrid Working, with a minimum of 2 to 3 days a week at Hinton House, Warrington, Cheshire.
- Occasional visits to Glasgow Design Offices and the System Integrator shall also be required.
Experience
- Proven experience delivering industrial control systems projects.
- Experience acting as an Intelligent Client, Design Authority representative, Lead Engineer, or Technical Assurance Engineer.
- Experience managing System Integrator or third-party design organisations.
- Strong working knowledge of: PLC and SCADA systems, Industrial communications networks, Servo motion Control, Control system lifecycle delivery, Verification and validation processes.
- Experience producing or reviewing: User Requirements Specifications (URS), System Definition Documents (SDD), Software System Specifications (SSS), Test Specifications.
- Experience supporting FAT, CAT and commissioning activities.

- Professional Qualification: Incorporated Engineer
- Experience: Working knowledge of the Sellafield Limited design specification tool CONCISE
