The Role
As a Senior SecDevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for developing secure delivery pipelines, automating infrastructure deployment, integrating security controls and supporting modern cloud-based platforms.
Working alongside engineers, architects, security specialists and delivery teams, you will help ensure digital services are secure, resilient and capable of supporting mission-critical data and integration capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain secure DevSecOps pipelines supporting data and integration services.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or equivalent technologies.
- Embed security best practices throughout the software development and delivery lifecycle.
- Automate security testing, vulnerability assessments and compliance checks within CI/CD workflows.
- Monitor and troubleshoot build, deployment and runtime environments.
- Support the reliability, availability and security of cloud-hosted platforms.
- Develop and maintain automation solutions to improve engineering efficiency.
- Support secure data integration solutions and ensure data availability, integrity and protection.
- Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, security, infrastructure and architecture.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve DevSecOps processes, tooling and platform capability.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience working within DevSecOps environments.
- Experience designing and supporting secure CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with automation and pipeline tooling such as: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Similar CI/CD technologies.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Experience with container technologies including: Docker, Kubernetes, Container orchestration platforms.
- Experience with scripting languages such as: Python, Bash, PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of security principles, secure engineering practices and vulnerability management.
- Knowledge of authentication and security protocols including: OAuth, SAML, TLS.
- Experience troubleshooting complex build, deployment and production issues.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting secure government or Defence environments.
- AWS DevOps Engineer certification or equivalent.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar container certification.
- Experience with data platforms, ETL processes and integration technologies.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and API management.
- Experience implementing GDPR or other data privacy requirements.
- Exposure to security automation, compliance tooling and cloud security frameworks.
- Experience working with hybrid cloud environments.
