Summary: The Senior DevOps/Platform Engineer will manage and maintain the platform and infrastructure components of the DevSecOps/PlatOps environments, ensuring scalability, availability, and reliability of software delivery pipelines. This role involves implementing automation, optimizing performance, and embedding security best practices within the infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance software development processes and provide out-of-hours support. The position is remote with occasional on-site requirements in Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of secure systems and develop infrastructure solutions for high availability, scalability, and resilience.
- Implement automation for infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and maintenance, focusing on minimizing manual tasks.
- Establish robust monitoring and alerting systems to ensure platform reliability and identify performance bottlenecks.
- Work closely with the security team to embed security best practices within infrastructure and systems.
- Partner with developers to understand application requirements and optimize CI/CD pipelines.
- Take a proactive approach to incident management, ensuring quick identification and resolution of issues.
- Stay informed of emerging trends in cloud technologies and integrate them into the platform.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for out-of-hours support of the production platform.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in platform engineering, DevSecOps, or related roles.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and container orchestration (e.g., Docker).
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins) and version control systems (Git).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and Configuration as Code (CaC) tools (e.g., Ansible).
- Understanding of security best practices in cloud and container environments.
- Experience in security frameworks (e.g., OWASP, CIS Benchmarks) and risk management strategies.
