Summary: The Senior Platform Engineer (AWS) role involves leading a major API infrastructure transformation project in London, focusing on migrating services from a legacy EC2 setup to a modern API management platform. The position requires extensive AWS experience and a strong DevOps mindset, with a hands-on approach to delivery. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure successful implementation and support of the new infrastructure. This is a 6-month contract with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and deploy infrastructure for a new API management platform (supplier selection in progress).
- Lead the migration of APIs from an existing EC2-based environment to a container-based architecture.
- Deploy and support the ACS (API Control System) platform.
- Write and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Support initial pilot migrations and help define repeatable deployment patterns.
- Collaborate with SREs, platform engineers, and architects to ensure smooth delivery.
- Provide hands-on expertise in Kong API Gateway migration.
- Contribute to observability using Datadog.
- Use Jira, Confluence, documentation, and quality control.
Key Skills:
- 7+ years' experience as a DevOps or Platform Engineer, with deep knowledge of AWS.
- Strong background in infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code – especially Terraform.
- Proven ability to work with GitLab CI/CD for build and release pipelines.
- Experience with containerised applications and modern cloud architectures.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing Kong API Gateway (essential).
- Familiarity with deploying ACS platforms.
- Understanding of observability tools – Datadog preferred.
- Comfortable in collaborative, agile teams, with strong documentation and delivery discipline.

We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer (AWS) to play a key role in the delivery of a major API infrastructure transformation project. You’ll work closely with platform architects, engineers, and SREs to design, build, and migrate key services to a modern API management platform – supporting both the pilot phase and full migration from a legacy EC2-based setup. This is a hands-on, project-focused role (circa 85% delivery), ideal for a senior engineer with deep AWS experience and a strong DevOps mindset.
