Summary: The Senior Developer for Individual Life in Liège, Belgium, is responsible for managing, developing, and maintaining in-house applications while collaborating with a team to enhance the Vereycken&Vereycken UL3 Policy Administration System. This role requires participation in technical feasibility studies, design documentation, and the improvement of development standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in technical feasibility studies and contribute to functional analysis.
- Design and document solutions comprehensively for development work.
- Support decomposition of work into stories for optimal workload planning.
- Design, maintain, and improve development standards for team enhancement.
- Carry out technical implementation and improvement of applications as required.
- Collaborate with Architects, Infrastructure, and Operations for optimal solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation for developed programs.
- Develop and maintain reporting tools for UL3 and other applications.
- Ad hoc development of tools supporting policy administration and other work streams.
- Coordinate development efforts with Group IT colleagues.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science.
- 5 years of hands-on software development experience in an OO context with API exposure.
- Mastery of software development processes (SDLC), methods, and trends.
- Excellent data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving skills.
- Full-stack development experience & Agile software development management experience (Python, .Net, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft Power solutions.
- Fluent in French or Dutch and English, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the UL3 platform from Vereycken & Vereycken is an asset.
- Ability to work individually and collaboratively.
- Experience in Life Insurance.
- High standards in documentation, unit testing, code reviews, test automation, and CI/CD.

Job Description - Senior Developer Individual Life - You report to the IL Application Development Manager and are part of a team of developers with whom you collaborate constructively and balanced working around Vereycken&Vereycken UL3 Policy Administration System. As a Senior IT developer, you are in charge of managing, developing, and maintaining applications developed in-house. You are also actively participating in global maturity increase and SDLC improvement based on your expertise.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Participate in technical feasibility studies and contribute to the reflection on functional analysis with Vereycken&Vereycken
- Design and document solution in a comprehensive manner to ensure development work is performed accordingly
- Support decomposition of work in stories to optimise the workload planning across team.
- Design, Maintain and Improve development standards for the team improvement.
- Carry out the technical implementation and improvement of all kinds of applications according to specifications where required
- Optimally collaborate with Architects, Infrastructure and Operations colleagues to optimise the solutions while maintaining high standards and security
- Prepare technical documentation for the programs developed in order to provide IT colleagues with a tool for the use of the programs
- Developing and maintaining reporting tooling from UL3 and other applications towards external and internal DBs, XML, csv, …..
- Ad hoc development of tools supporting the policy administration and other work streams in the company.
- Coordinate development related efforts engaging our Group IT colleagues
REQUIRED PROFILE
- At least bachelor's degree in computer science
- 5 years hands on software development experience on OO context with exposure to API development
- Mastery of software development processes (SDLC), methods and trends
- Excellent in data structures, algorithms and problem solving skills and ability to apply design patterns in architecture
- Full-stack development experience & Agile software development management experience (Python, .Net, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft Power solution
- French or Dutch speaking and fluent in English, both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of UL3 platform from Vereycken & Vereycken is an asset.
- Ability to work both individually and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience in Insurance (Life Insurance)
