Senior Dev Ops Engineer
Summary: The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the design, build, and deployment of cloud-based environments while promoting DevOps best practices across teams. This role involves supporting engineering teams with automation, troubleshooting, and mentoring, ensuring operational excellence and continuous improvement. The position is hybrid, requiring three days on-site in various UK cities. The contract duration is 12 months with a maximum day rate of £750.00 inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, build, deployment, and support of cloud infrastructure and services using automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Promote and embed DevOps best practices across teams, encouraging continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Build, improve, deploy, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure services and environments.
- Identify areas where processes, tooling, or practices can be improved and provide guidance on implementing best-practice solutions.
- Take ownership of large and complex technical workstreams, ensuring successful delivery and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including operational procedures, architecture diagrams, and deployment guides.
- Support development and testing teams by providing stable, well-managed environments and deployment pipelines.
- Coach, mentor, and support colleagues, fostering knowledge sharing and capability development within the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and application issues, implementing sustainable solutions.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience in DevOps engineering, cloud infrastructure, and automation.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline design, implementation, and optimisation.
- Strong understanding of configuration management, monitoring, logging, and deployment automation.
- Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives and manage complex workstreams.
