Summary: The Senior Design Engineering Consultant role involves leading design projects from concept to SOP within the automotive industry, focusing on complex assemblies and detailed designs. The position requires expertise in 3D CAD, GD&T, material selection, and DFMEA, along with the ability to collaborate across functions and manage prototyping and testing strategies. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This is a contract position based in Royal Leamington Spa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver projects from concept to SOP with established OEMs or Tier 1 in the automotive industry.
  • Expertise in complex assemblies and detailed 2D/3D designs using 3D CAD.
  • Establish and refine design standards and best practices.
  • Develop advanced tolerance schemes that optimize manufacturability and performance.
  • Master BS 8888:2020 and ISO GPS for GD&T and tolerancing.
  • Propose materials and discuss new design solutions for interior production.
  • Participate in DFMEA initiatives and perform comprehensive feasibility analyses.
  • Manage surface design analysis and change requests independently.
  • Propose tool concept designs and analyze complex tool inserts.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams including purchasing, electrical, and styling.
  • Plan and execute comprehensive prototyping/testing strategies.
  • Analyze results and iterate designs based on testing outcomes.
  • Conduct and navigate risk assessment activities on design.
  • Navigate regulation and standards for EU, NAR, and ROW.

  • Having successfully delivered projects from concept to SOP with established OEMs or Tier 1 in the automotive industry
  • 3D CAD & 2D Drawings- Expertise in complex assemblies and detailed 2D/3D designs
  • 3D CAD & 2D Drawings- Establish and refine design standards and best practices
  • GD&T and Tolerancing- Develop advanced tolerance schemes that optimize manufacturability and performance
