Summary: As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be integral to the design and integration of auxiliary systems for complex marine platforms within a leading engineering organization. Your role involves developing design solutions, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and supporting technical investigations. You will also mentor junior engineers and engage with customers and suppliers to enhance engineering processes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, integrate, and assure technical quality of auxiliary systems for marine platforms.
  • Develop Stage 1 design solutions and prepare specifications.
  • Support the Zonal Integration process and ensure 3D models reflect design intent.
  • Conduct specialist analyses and evaluate technical options.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers and suppliers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes.

Key Skills:

  • A degree in engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong experience in marine engineering, defence, oil & gas, nuclear, or building services.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and mechanical, piping, or pressure drop calculations.
  • Experience in developing technical specifications and collaborating with suppliers and customers.
  • Understanding of system design review, analysis, and integration processes.
  • Ability to conduct technical investigations and make sound engineering decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for mentoring others.

Your new role

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, integration and technical assurance of auxiliary systems across a complex marine platform. You will develop Stage 1 design solutions, prepare specifications, and ensure all outputs meet stringent quality and technical standards.

You'll support the Zonal Integration process, ensuring 3D models accurately reflect design intent and comply with all requirements. Your work will include conducting specialist analyses, evaluating technical options, and producing evidence-based recommendations to support decision-making and resolve engineering challenges.

Acting as a technical point of contact, you'll engage with customers and suppliers, support investigations, and contribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes. You'll also provide guidance to less experienced engineers, helping to build capability across the team.

What you'll need to succeed
